Project Description
One of Pekalongan city’s natural potentials is a coastline, which can be functioned as a tourist resort. There is a mangrove area in Pekalongan city. In some examples the development of mangrove ecosystems in Indonesia, it can also be developed into a as a educative tourist resort that helps increase local income from tourism. In addition, the mangrove ecosystem can also enhance the quality of marine life that is very profitable for anglers in the surroundings.
Mangrove area in Pekalongan city is located in the Village of Kandang Panjang District of North Pekalongan city. The area development plan reaches 90 hectares and only about 5.7 hectares, infrastructures have been constructed, and while the remaining area about 84.3 hectares can be developed for other facilities.
Existing Condition
Development of these mangrove areas are not only as a marine tourism but also as a family and a means of education facilities for environmental protection and disaster mitigation. The existing infrastructure facilities are :
- Educational facilities : gallery of mangrove forest ecosystem and touch pond (education pond of nursery and mangrove planting), library and discussion room.
- Nursery and seedlings land of mangrove plants
- Productive economic facilities: cultivation of soka crabs, seaweed cultivation and silvofishery (intercropping between fish / shrimp and mangrove).
- Research and development facilities for mangrove forest conservation.
- Gasebo and shelter
- PIM / PRPM Building(Center for Mangrove Restoration and Learning)
- Board walker (means of tracking): bridges as long as the PIM location is set to reach the objects of existing facilities.
- Green belt (coastal green belt): expanse of mangrove forest
- Viewing facilities
- Planting of various coastal vegetation adapted to the type of land.
- Facilitation of culinary tourism typical food of mangrove forest and local food.
- Facilitation of fishing gear.
Market Aspect
Pekalongan city is an old city located in the northern coastline as one of the strategic city of destination. It is known as a city of batik production center so that tourists not only go shopping but also they can enjoy the beauty of the beach through Pekalongan Mangrove Park.
Infrastructure development needed to support the development of Pekalongan mangrove park area, such as roads, irrigation, telecommunication and electricity. Other facilities that can be developed are such as home stay, restaurant, water transportation, and adventure area or outbound.
The other potential opportunities include mangrove ecosystem training, coastal and marine, fishing pond, commercial photography services (pre-wedding, advertising, etc.), sale of souvenirs, and culinary.

Legal Aspect
Land part already owned by the City Government and partly still belong to private / local people.
